California Trip: A Photo Essay

On June 19, we flew from Seattle to LAX, to spend a month with family. This is the view from our plane shortly after landing at LAX.

The next morning, we headed to downtown Claremont, where I visited the Folk Music Center. These are some of the banjos for sale there.

That night we went down to Anaheim, and watched our beloved Seattle Mariners take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Mariners were up 7 runs with Felix pitching, and it looked like a blowout. But these are the Mariners we're talking about. The Angels came back and won.

Here's Olivia enjoying the scenery.

And here's Clara doing her happy dance.

A few days later I enjoyed a nice visit with my old friend and roommate, Michael Noffsinger, at the Black Abbey in Claremont.

The second weekend was spent in Mexicali, where we celebrated Clara's birthday. It was hot.

But not too hot for penguins.

Clara made a new friend.

Then she destroyed her new friend

We eventually headed back to Upland, where we enjoyed a relaxing 4th of July.

One of the highlights of the trip was our visit to the California Science Center, where we saw the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Here is the toilet from Endeavour.

Later that day we went to Venice Beach and the girls got their feet wet.

Stay tuned for part 2. . .
